Fans crushed in rush to be seen on rock band's video
A FAN fainted and many were crushed in a heaving queue when
a Camden Town nightclub hosted the filming of a popular band
at the venue.
Fans of goth-rockers Placebo had their dreams of starring in
their idols video dashed when queue jumpers outside Koko
in Camden High Street shoved their way to the front last Tuesday.
Koko managers say they had been told to prepare for 300 people,
had put on ample staff and were unaware the event was to be
aggressively publicised.
Crowds queued from 10am to participate in the video for new
single Because I Want You after 400 places were advertised on
the bands website. One fan, Siobhan Gibson, said: We
were 120 on the head count. Then more people turned up and jumped
the queue. It began to get cramped. They let the first 400 in
and we still didnt get in.
A Koko spokesman apologised to Ms Gibson and invited her to
return as a guest of the club. He added that the club was changing
its policy for free events. The spokesman said: Everyone
who is going to get in will get tickets. |
