Orson lacking sparkle
REVIEW - Orson
100 Club By ANDY DANGERFIELD
HOLLYWOOD soft rock band Orson were milking the fact it was
Valentines night at the intimate 200-capacity 100 Club.
Bassist Jonny Bentjen had flowers from his girl
rested on his amp, while singer Jason Pebworth dedicated songs
to the ladies despite sweat pouring down
his face.
Although sounding like something between The Killers and Duran
Duran, they were far from being as exciting as either of these
bands. Most of the set was like listening to a lacklustre version
of Maroon 5, although their cover of Hall and Oates classic
I Cant Go For That was a highlight.
Best reception of the night was reserved for their catchy Top
of the Pops-featured single, No Tomorrow, which seemed a little
inappropriate for Valentines it is about breaking
up after all.
Boys tried it on with the ladies, but they werent interested
Orson was their only date for the evening.
Theyre back at Scala on February 27.
