IT is a venue that is more used to chamber music than
jazz but on Saturday the Wigmore Hall is holding a study day
looking at the music of one of the jazz greats.
Entitled It Dont Mean a Thing, trombonist Mark Bassey,
with jazz broadcaster Richard Michael, will be presenting discussions
and analysis of the music by Duke Ellington.
There will also be practical examples including a rhythm session
and performances of Cottontail, Daydream and Sunset and the
Mocking Bird.
It is bound to be a really special day for jazz enthusiasts..
