PREVIEW - THE GARDEN OPERA COSI FAN TUTTE
Regent's Park
OUTDOOR performances, be it the summer concert series at Kenwood House or the recent presentations of Shakespeare in Lincoln’s Inn, are one of the most pleasurable things about. On Bank Holiday Monday there is the opportunity to enjoy a Mozart opera in the glory of Regent’s Park.
The Garden Opera Company is presenting his Cosi Fan Tutte on the Nannies’ Lawn, the love story having been adapted around a cricket game taking place on a village green. Sung in English, the work has been translated by Jeremy Sams, directed by Peter Bridges and is raising money for the Educational Outreach Programme
The Garden Opera Company was founded in 1994 and has been presenting opera, specifically humorous works, since then throughout the country, with its own small orchestra and company of singers. In previous years the company has performed Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and the Magic Flute, Donizetti’s Elixir of Love and Rossini’s Barber of Seville and enjoyed large crowds and favourable reviews.
And just in case it rains, the show will go on in nearby St Cyprian’s Church in Glentworth Street. |
