THE HUSTLER
THE HUSTLER is fine example of Paul Newman at the height of his craft. Newman was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of pool shark Eddie Felson.
He portrays the double-or-quits attitude of a hardened gambler. He and his rival – Jackie Gleason who plays Minnesota Fats (pictured above) – create a tension laden battle of wits between the two as they gun for big money on the green baize.
The real star of this show is the moody backgrounds in front of which Newman twinkles. |
