Pick of the Indies
First showing for quirky comedy
Going Mobile
A SHORT film shot around Camden Town and starring up and coming local actor Leander Pittis (pictured) is making its debut this week at the Vue cinema in Holborn.
Called Going Mobile, the quirky comedy stars the West Hampstead-based actor as a man in a dead end sales job who ignores an invitation from his girlfriend to spend a romantic night eating a specially-cooked meal followed by a night of passion.
When he staggers home at 3am after a night in the pub with his friends, dead drunk, she gets her revenge by not only setting his alarm clock early but by stealing his wallet and buying herself a handbag.
He made the film after finishing a year-long acting course at the City Lit college, and Leander’s screen career is looking rosy.
He is currently playing a major part in a 16th-century period drama called Roanoke: The Lost Colony – a film about 120 colonists who went to live in America. After finding an island to settle on they mysteriously disappeared.
He said: “I really enjoyed making the film. It has a nice sense of fun about it.”
And the experience of making Roanoke is standing him in good stead.
He said: “I have been travelling to locations all over England. We have been filming recently in Sussex and Surrey and it has been great to work on location. It is such an interesting story, based on true events. And I have loved being in a period drama, with all the costumes.”
