The Review - AT THE MOVIES with DAN CARRIER
Published 16 November 2006

King Kong
DVD of the Week

KING KONG
Special DVD Box Set. £39.99. Universal.

PETER Jackson’s re-telling of the fabulous 1930s monster flick is best viewed on as big a screen as possible – but huge TVs are the norm nowadays in most living rooms so catching this superbly constructed film in the comfort of your own home will not lessen the incredible production values.
We all know the story, but it will still bring tears to your eyes at the end. What really dazzles is not the incredible effects, where every individual hair on the beasts back rustles in the breeze, nor the never ending action sequences, but the recreation of the 1930s era. The music, the costumes and the architecture the whole are the show stealers. Jackson’s eye for detail is nothing short of superb.
