Cardinall’s Musick’s flight with Byrd

IN the splendour of Thomas Archer’s baroque finery of St John’s Smith Square, the excellent Cardinall’s Musick will be performing on Monday.
The Cardinall’s Musick, directed by Andrew Carwood, have pioneered renaissance music since their formation in 1989, achieving such feats as recreating an entire Tudor mass in Hampton Court, and are beginning to tackle a project to record William Byrd’s music.
Regulars at St John’s Smith Square, this is their special Christmas concert and features Renaissance seasonal music.
There is a good amount of Byrd, including his Propers for Christmas Day, along with Descendi de Caelis, Exsurge Domine and Tribue Domine and Tallis’s Missa Salve intermerata virgo and Eight Tunes from Archbishop Park’s Psalter. |
