Predator and Alien in small- town Colorado
How sell-by date becomes alien concept
ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM
Directed by Colin and Greg Strause
Certificate 15
Is it me, or are the Aliens starting to look like something that has escaped from my toolbox? Those claws look like sets of pliers, and I spot a spanner in the works as the metallic face-huggers crash-land in Colorado to decimate the good folk in the town of Gunnison.
There’s a hint of desperation in the story as we meet a new creature calling itself the Predalien – you’ve guessed it: part Predator, part Alien. Now that must have been some noisy coupling!
A cast of unknowns have little to do except scream as a Predator “cleaner” arrives in town to sweep up the mess.
The action is forced, the script hackneyed, and the special effects have nothing much new to offer.
As its sell-by date runs out, I trust this brings the cycle to an end.
