Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson in The Game Plan
The Rock proves game for a laugh
THE GAME PLAN

HEY, look who’s back! It’s none other than the Rock, otherwise known as Dwayne Johnson, a 6ft 5ins lump of muscle, most of it between the ears, who gave up his career as an all-in wrestler to star as The Mummy, and went on to Hollywood fame with a load of action movies trying to cut it as the new Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This time he shows a commendable streak of humour as a big-headed American football quarter-back who calls himself “the king”, has full-sized photographs of himself dotted around the house, and puts his brand name to anything from fast food to trainers.
He lives alone with his bulldog for company, enjoying the bachelor life to the full.
But when a curly-haired moppet (Madison Pettis) shows up at his house with a note pinned to her jacket informing him that she’s his daughter, his life turns upside down.
In a Disney family movie, fun and frivolity usually win the day – and is that really the Rock prancing around in ballet tights for his darling daughter? No wonder kids love him.
