?FILM director Bruce Weber is joined tomorrow (Friday) by film expert Ian Haydn Smith at Islington’s Screen On The Green to discuss Let’s Get Lost, his biography of trumpeter Chet Baker .
The career of Weber touches on the development of visual arts, from Cartier Bresson and Magnum through to David Bailey and Getty Images. His background is in advertising and glossy magazine shoots. Weber brought us a raft of male models clad in Calvin Klein smalls, and was behind some of the most iconic 1980s images, also branching out into pop videos – The Pet Shop Boys and Liza Minnelli have both benefited from his eye.
He has tub-thumping views on the media’s use of sexuality to sell products and his skill and ability to create striking images has made him one of the leading photographers of his time.
