The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS

Grooves

IT turns out what was Glastonbury’s loss is most definitely Camden’s gain – and now it can be yours too.
Lost Vagueness, which was much missed at this year’s festival, is scheduled to take over Camden Town on Saturday July 19. And you can win tickets to what is probably going to be the best thing here all year.
After pulling out of the country’s biggest festival because they say it had become too commercialised, organisers set their sights on NW1, calling it the perfect place for them.
And I for one, having witnessed a few things round these parts, am very excited. The event, which is co-hosted by Be, who’ve had a residency at Proud for ages, will be something never before seen here.
A dazzling display of colours, wacky outfits and aerial artists. Vaudeville verging on the circus? Maybe.
The Lost Luck Casino, cabarets and sideshow weirdness are all set to appear between the walls of Proud, the Monarch and the Enterprise. The party will go on from 8pm till 1am.
And although there are a couple of big name acts being lined up there are also some new artists to look out for. A Manchester band called International One, singled out by Archbishop Desmond Tutu to play at Nelson Mandela’s birthday party, will play, as will Guardian favourite The Fabulous Penetrators.
