Grooves
I’M LOOKING forward to some surprises this weekend as the Mencap Little Noise Sessions get under way at the Union Chapel.
Last year U2 and Noel Gallagher made unannounced guest appearances.
I’ve featured two diametrically opposed bands from the States this week – the understated Cold War Kids and the off-the-planet Cage The Elephant. I’ll leave it to you to decide who’d be more fun to tour with.
• THE Hawley Arms may have just reopened, but it looks like the Monarch on Chalk Farm Road is winning the battle for the tabloid headlines. After scooping Amy Winehouse to DJ earlier this year, it seems Pete Doherty’s agreed to make an appearance.
• OVER at the Dublin Castle, I saw Bitter Things headline a Halloween party on Friday. They won over the crowd and filled the room. They’re playing 93 Feet East in Shoreditch later this month so don’t miss out.
• ALSO at the Dublin Castle, Airborne Toxic event is celebrating a month-long Club Fandango Tuesday-night residency – there’s a real buzz about these guys.
