SO NOW the Emirates Stadium is allowed to hold three concerts a year it’s anyone’s guess who’s going to be big enough to fill the 60,000-plus seats. This year it was Bruce Springsteen. It may be a wild rumour, but I’ve heard Guns N’ Roses could be on next year’s list – what will the neighbours say when Axl and his bandana roll into town?
• THIRTEEN years after he first disappeared, the Manics’ Richey Edwards has been legally declared dead. I wonder how long the national newspapers had been holding on to his obituary for?
It was published in at least one this week. Richey, who left behind pages of lyrics which will be used on the band’s next album, is officially the latest in the long line of tortured musicians who died aged 27, along with Kurt Cobain, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison.
• SHE hasn’t played a gig in London for two years, but now Lily Allen has chosen Camden’s Koko to preview her second album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, released next year. Tickets went on sale this week.
n Someone told me Last Days of Decadence in Shoreditch are running a prohibition speakeasy before their club nights. Look out for beer served in paper bags, hot cocktails in teapots and a 1920s vibe – sounds like my kind of place.
