Christmas in the Garden Suburb
PREVIEW: FINCHLEY CHORAL SOCIETY
FINCHLEY Children’s Music Group, one of the finest children’s choirs around, will join Finchley Choral Society (FCS) in their traditional Christmas concert on Saturday December 20. The two choirs will perform many well-loved carols, with opportunities for audience participation, alongside some lesser-known works with a festive feel.
FCS was founded over 100 years ago to give local people the opportunity to take part in high quality music-making and is now a firmly established part of the musical life in north London.
The Children’s Music Group (pictured) has been dedicated to the promotion of choral music for young people for 50 years. It is a highly versatile group of mixed-voice choirs producing a natural, vibrant vocal quality together with a high level of musicianship and professionalism.
The two choirs will be singing at the Free Church, Hampstead Garden Suburb. This impressive Grade I-listed building, built by Sir Edwin Lutyens in a similar style to St Jude’s, will be the FCS’s home for their next few concerts.
* Finchley Choral Society and Finchley Children’s Music Group will perform Carols and Christmas Music for the Family on Saturday December 20 at 7.30pm in Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church, Central Square, NW11. £8 (£1 children)
