THE Barbican’s new year gets off to a promising start with two performances of Verdi’s Requiem. Conducted by the LSO’s President, Sir Colin Davis. Sir Colin – a great enthusiast for the vocal and orchestral sound world – will be joined in these performances by an outstanding international cast that includes the American soprano Christine Brewer (who was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society/ BBC Radio 3 Listeners’ Award this year), the acclaimed Russian mezzo-soprano Larissa Diadkova, tenor Stuart Neill who has sung the Verdi Requiem to great acclaim more than 175 times and the Canadian bass John Relyea.
