CAN there be a more watchable screen pairing than Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman? The fact that both are directed by Alfred Hitchcock in this re-release, plugged by the British Film Institute, only underlines its worth. Bergman is the gorgeous Alicia Huberman, whose life has hit the skids when her German father is accused of treason. Grant is the gorgeous US intelligence agent Devlin, who wants to get her to travel to Brazil and spy on her father’s Nazi friends. Desperate to make amends, she is enlisted to seduce bad guy Alex Sebastian (Claude Rains) and find out his dark Nazi secrets.

WITH weak gags and a silly storyline, this kung fu comedy is nonetheless entertaining because of its sheer ridiculousness.
Hero Sidhu mans a roadside food stall, generally swapping between day dreaming and grumbling about his lot. But things take a turn for the better when two mysterious strangers claim he is the reincarnation of a famous warrior. It soon becomes apparent that our friend lacks any genealogical links with any martial arts expert – but, as with the recent Pixar cartoon Kung Fu Panda, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.This hugely silly film relies on childish nonsense, but, coupled with Bollywood theatrics and some funny choreography, it’s an enjoyable enough romp.

AT the risk of inciting hate mail from a dog club, can anyone tell me the point of chihuahuas?
I have never understood why anyone would want such a creature. They are pretty ugly, not great for country treks, and have an annoying yap. Chloe is the sheltered mutt who has it all. Then disaster strikes when she goes missing in Mexico. Enter tough guy Papi, a chichuachua who is in love with her, to save the day.

OH YUK.
This splash-the-blood horror film leaps off the screen in this instalment that sees our hero Tom return to the small town he left 10 years ago. It is the anniversary of a horrible massacre which saw 22 people slain, and Tom returns to find himself suspected of being the person behind the brutal murders. This film pretends to be nothing but a classic, bad-taste horror. |
