A RECKLESS world of hedonism and skullduggery lurks beneath the veneer of 1930s upper-class respectability in JB Priestley’s elegant thriller Dangerous Corner. The Tower Theatre Company retreads this tale of mysterious death, high society and an incriminating musical cigarette box at The Bridewell Theatre for one week only, from July 7-July 11. LIGHTS of the West End will rub shoulders with aspiring singers at Camden’s Theatro Technis next week. Written and directed by Kenneth-Avery Clark (who has played alongside Lee Evans, Nathan Lane and Elaine Paige), One Short Day is actually on for two days (8pm, July 6-7) at the Mornington Crescent venue. Theatre names Lisa Donmall, John Barr and Ian Stroughair perform alongside drama students from the Stageworks Training programme in a musical comedy about a group of thespians trapped in a haunted theatre. WRINGING laughter from the struggle for peace in the Middle East sounds like a hard task, but Ivor Dembina is not one to shy away from a challenge.
