WE’VE all seen Eminem’s battle movie 8 Mile. Well, Camden’s very own version is playing out as we speak. Saint, from the heart of Camden Town, has been destroying opponents in MC battles with his witty freestyling and killer punchlines. He’s not shy either, having won the UK Battlescars title in front of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Exhibit and a 32,000-strong crowd at the Earl’s Court Arena. He’s now teamed up with our favourites N-Dubz for new single Where do We Go? Watch this space.
GET your messiest clothes out, the Roundhouse is holding a huge under-21s foam party on September 5. The Bigga Bubble Birthday Bash, organised by non-profit organisation Bigga Fish who give media training to kids, will have live bands, DJs, MCs and lots more. Further info from www.roundhouse.org.uk
NASHVILLE rockers Paramore have caused panic among fans who failed to get hold of a golden ticket for their gig at Islington’s 02 Academy on September 7. Tickets on eBay – original price £5 – were more than £2,000 when I last checked. Are they really that good?
FEELING Gloomy at the Islington 02 Academy celebrates its fourth birthday on September 19. Former Suede man Brett Anderson has promised to step in to help spin those depressing tunes.
MORE good news for the under-agers. Highgate’s Piers Marais, whose band Illegitimate Sons of the King have captured my attention for their name alone, has set up a vital website for those young music lovers out there. See www.underagegigs.com. It launches properly next month.
Don’t forget Beach Boy Brian Wilson’s at the Roundhouse on September 3.
