This Polish film tells the story of Elka and her younger brother Stefek.
Their father has disappeared and so Stefek finds a father figure in his older sister’s boyfriend. Meanwhile, she is desperately trying to land a new translator’s job while keeping an eye on her little brother – a task which, as the film rolls on, is harder than it sounds.
Gentle, well shot and funny, Tricks has wonS various plaudits at film festivals and is a fine example of contemporary Polish cinema.
