WHEN newspapers reported on Liam Gallagher’s moody, aggressive demeanour when Oasis played the Roundhouse in July, lawyers’ letters soon appeared on certain editors’ desks saying they had defamed his character.
Will brother Noel be expecting something similar after the comments he’s been making about Liam following the band’s split? They came back with a vengeance, they’ve always had a rocky relationship, I just hope they make up soon.
• So Jay-Z’s coming to the Roundhouse on September 17. This’ll be one of his smaller shows, and is sure to attract some big-name fans. Expect the paparazzi out in force on Chalk Farm Road, desperate for a glimpse of Beyoncé.
• But who needs Jay-Z when Camden’s got N-Dubz? They’ve just been nominated for four Mobo awards.
• Club Fandango has a great eye for new bands. They’ve been promoting at The Dublin Castle for years. Their third festival, the four-day Fistful of Fandango, with headliners including Future of the Left, Herman Dune, Art Brut and Pete & the Pirates is at 229 on Great Portland Street from next Wednesday, September 9-12.
• Looking for something to do tomorrow? Post-punk/new wave from Islington Boys Club at the Dublin Castle, sharing a bill with Century Man, Hans Island and This Love Affair.
• Scottish songstress Dot Allison’s album 71/2 is out on Monday. As well as teaming up with Paul Weller, there’s a curious duet with Pete – sorry, Peter – Doherty, as rough as anything you’ve heard from Babyshambles.
• Canadian singer James Keelaghan is introducing new album House of Cards at The Green Note on September 15. Something for a mellow night out.
