Sarah Walker masterclass
SHE'S a legendary diva with a global reputation. She’s sung in opera houses all over the world, in countless concerts and recitals.
She’s Sarah Walker and next Thursday evening she’s holding a masterclass at Camden School for Girls for young singers up to the age of 18.
Masterclasses are her passion these days – and best of all are masterclasses for younger singers, she says. Competition for places at next Thursday’s event was intense. Applications came from schools near and far, including Camden School for Girls, La Sainte Union in Highgate, Fortismere School in Muswell Hill and Eton College in Windsor.
The masterclasses form an important part of the prestigious London Song Festival at St George’s, Hanover Square. It says a lot about the status of song in this country that the audition panel were impressed by the high standard and enthusiasm of applicants, some as young as 13.
There is no entry charge for anyone wanting to attend and hear the great diva passing on her secrets.
• SARAH Walker’s masterclass starts at 5pm on Thursday, November 19 at Camden School for Girls, Sandall Road, NW1, off Camden Road.
