In the Wings • POPPING out for lunch? Why not grab a bit of theatre with your sandwich? The King’s Head in Upper Street is staging lunchtime performances of Lilly and May, a 45-minute play about the relationship between two homeless women, from Tuesday. Performances are at 1pm from November 17. Tickets are £8 (£6 concs). Call 0844 209 0326. • THE last in a series of “Meet the Author” events will take place at Hampstead’s New End Theatre over the next two weeks. Novelist and film-maker Olivia Lichtenstein will speak on Sunday (November 8), with Margaret Drabble, author of 17 novels, billed to speak on November 15. Both talks take place at 7.30pm at the theatre in New End. Tickets cost £12 (concs £11) and £10 (concs £9) respectively. Call 0870 033 2733. • A timely examination of the ravages of war will take place later this month, when acclaimed amateur dramatics company The Hampstead Players stage The Sacred Flame. Somerset Maugham’s tragedy about love, secrets and mercy killing plays at Hampstead Parish Church. The play will be performed on November 26 and 27 at 7.30pm and on November 28 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
