We are united in the face of murder tragedy
• I AND many others were disappointed to read the article about Lisson Green Estate (Febuary 16).
Jevon’s death was a tragic loss of life and all of us working for the regeneration of the area send our condolences and sympathies to his family and friends.
Of course, there is much concern about the murder amongst those of us who live and work in the area, but there is a maturity and stability in the response of the community, not the fragility alluded to in the article.
This is in no small part a result of the positive relationships built between residents and public organisations like the City Council and the Met Police, as well as other agencies that have been working together to improve the quality of life on the estate.
Much is happening on Lisson Green estate and the surrounding neighbourhood to regenerate the area.
The project that I manage – Church Street Neighbourhood Management – is sponsored by central government and run by the Paddington Development Trust, a local regeneration charity. Our programme ensures that the neighbourhood gets the attention to detail and provision of resources to tackle important local issues.
Lisson Green Estate is becoming an area of increasing pride, where neighbourliness is improving, where people – both young and old - walk around safely and with optimism for the future.
