Casino will be noisy
• IT was good to read Richard Osley’s report, in last week’s West End Extra, of the plan to turn part of a hotel in a residential area of Bloomsbury into a casino (Casino plan clears first hurdle).
But the arguments he quotes from the hotel company, which were part of the reason the Camden planning committee narrowly approved the plan, cry out for comment.
They say that the hotel “would not allow a casino to disturb its own hotel guests – let alone nearby residents”. That is a non sequitur.
Keeping things peaceful for their guests inside has no bearing on the disturbance that the hundreds of households round the hotel will experience with all the extra comings and goings throughout the night.
