‘Done deal’ fears for school
UNION officials believe plans to turn Pimlico School into an academy is a ‘done deal’.
The fears follow a series of cancelled meetings between stand-in headteacher Jo Shuter and schools minister Lord Adonis about the future of the school on special measures.
Sir Simon Milton said he wanted Pimlico to be an academy and sources believe the DfES has singled out academy sponsors Absolute Return for Kids (Ark) to sponsor the school.
Ark, which sponsors the King Solomon Academy in Paddington, with funds raised through hedgefunds and private equity schemes.
A spokeswoman for Ark said: “As far as we are aware the decision over Pimlico has not been taken yet. We would be interested if it does become an academy.”
A debate is scheduled at the school for April 2 at 6.30pm. |
