25 millionth visitors to Eye
THE London Eye celebrated its 25 millionth customer on Tuesday morning.
Steve Harland and his daughter Abbie Harland were given a magnum of Laurent Perrier champagne, a three-course dinner at partner restaurant Chez Gerard and a 12-month pass for all the Tussauds attractions before taking to the sky.
An average of 1,000 people an hour have visited the attraction since it opened in 2000.
The Eye’s managing director David Sharpe commented: “Today the London Eye team has been incredibly proud to welcome Steve and Abbie Harland as our 25 millionth visitors.
“Just before the turn of this century, we were a mere concept – today we have become a global icon, a contemporary symbol for modern Britain and have changed London’s skyline.” |
