Police to crack down on Padddington kerb crawlers
POLICE officers from Paddington Safer Neighbourhoods Team and the Clubs and Vice Unit are cracking down on kerb crawlers.
Operation Pela targeted kerb crawlers in the Paddington area between March 27 and 29.
They arrested and charged 14 men on alleged kerb crawling offences.
Inspector Paula Light from Paddington Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “These people who come in to Paddington purely to solicit sex are the very people who are not welcome. “We will work closely with residents, local businesses and colleagues in the Clubs and Vice unit to arrest these people and deter them from kerb crawling in Paddington again. “This crime is severely anti-social, especially for those people who live and work in the Paddington area. Furthermore we will always take these people to court, and where possible make applications for Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs).”
Inspector Andy Shortland from the Clubs and Vice Unit CO14 said: “Our officers will always work closely with the Safer Neighbourhood Teams to provide specialist expertise in tackling this particularly ant-social crime.”
