Polish signs for coach drivers
THE Council has erected a series of road signs in Polish for coach drivers coming to Victoria.
The six notices warn coach drivers that they must not enter a part of Pimlico where a coach ban is in force. “Many of the Polish coach drivers seem to be unaware of the rules for going down this particular road,” said Councillor Danny Chalkley.
The move follows a number of complaints from residents and businesses who say the Polish coaches use St George’s Drive as an unnecessary shortcut, park on the street illegally and cause traffic disruption in the area.
The signs read: “Uwaga Kierowco – wjazd dla autokarów poza tym puntkem jest zabroniony. Wiecej informacji mozna nabyc na stronach www.westminster
.gov.uk.”
This translates as: “Driver Aware – access for coaches beyond this point is forbidden. More information can be obtained on pages www.westminster.gov.uk.”
Cllr Chalkley said: “This is a serious problem that affects many of our residents and businesses in Pimlico. “
