Indefinite sentence for ‘frenzied’ attack
A DOORMAN at the Astoria nightclub in Soho has been locked up indefinitely for a frenzied knife onslaught on his lover.
Pedro Barrios-Telosa gave no hint of his attack as he had sex with student Claudia Ramirez.
But when she had her back turned to him in bed at a hostel in Well Street he plunged a knife into her 11 times. Old Bailey prosecutor Christopher Hehir said Miss Ramirez, 23, was lucky to survive the attack
The 22-year old bouncer phoned for an ambulance and thend fled the scene after packing his bags. He turned up on his bicycle at the Astoria and then west to the South Coast.
Detectives later arrested him in Southampton.
Barrios-Telosa pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
Judge David Rennie, QC, said no explanation had been given for the “shocking and terribly violent attack on a vulnerable and helpless young woman”.
He added that the indefinite sentence was “for public protection”.
