West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 20 April 2007
Talk of the Town
• THE ceremony at Westminster City Hall you recently featured (Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The GLA appoints a Town Crier, April 6) was actually to celebrate the appointment of Westminster Council’s new Town Crier, Peter Moore.
Whilst I understand that Mr Moore is Town Crier to the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority, this is entirely separate from the event upon that you were reporting.
The ceremony you featured was one at which I, as Lord Mayor of Westminster, was conferring upon Peter Moore his new title.
I know that Mr Moore is immensely proud of his appointment as Westminster’s Town Crier, and I’m sure your readers will be delighted, as we are, with the news that Westminster now
has a Town Crier all
of its own. CLLR ALEXANDER NICOLL
The Lord Mayor of Westminster
