West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 27 April 2007
Charge is virtual rip-off
• ATROCIOUS that Westminster Tories have brought in charges to access the internet at public libraries.
Everywhere in Britain, People’s Network (an initiative from lottery funds to provide libraries with computers) allows a minimum of one hour’s free online access. Now the Conservative Party is charging Westminster residents even more than commercial internet cafés – a whopping £1 for every 30 minutes online at the library!
Even with their token taster session and 20p ResCard discount, they are pricing this important tool out of reach, especially for those of us on low incomes.
It’s another example of the divided society Westminster’s Tories strive beyond decency to impose. Name and address supplied
