West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 15 June 2007
Gardens policy buried
• THE comments by Councillor Audrey Lewis contained in your article last week completely miss the point (Gardens: growing concern, June 8).
Either she fails to understand or chooses not to understand that our complaints are about the Council’s overall policies for the public gardens and squares in the West End, and not about a particular licensing issue.
The three questions that we have asked Sir Simon Milton are:
(a) Why has there been no public discussion about the Council’s apparent policy of selling off usage of these public gardens to private interests, for significant periods of time during the summer?
(b) How much money is involved ?
(c) Where does this money go?
There has been no response from Sir Simon to date.
If Cllr Lewis knows the answers to these questions, perhaps she might enlighten myself and other West End Extra readers. RON WHELAN
