Outstanding award for foster carer
FOSTER carer Aileen Wildman received an award from the Lord Mayor of Westminster for outstanding achievement.
Ms Wildman, pictured right with mayor Councillor Carolyn Keen, cared for a baby who was severely ill with a short life expectancy.
Despite this, she and her husband Jason, looked after the child and went to extra lengths to ensure its quality of life.
Ms Wildman said: “Caring for children in difficult circumstances is very rewarding, especially with a child such as this one. Even though the baby’s life was severely limited, it was important for me to do everything I could in the time there was left.”
The couple, who live in Lambeth and have been fostering children in Westminster since 1993.
The award came at the annual foster carers reception on Saturday in the Lord Mayor’s Parlour at City Hall.
Cllr Keen said: “Having served on the council’s adoption panel I know how critical good foster caring is and am full of admiration for those who take on this responsibility. Aileen and her husband are to be congratulated on their fine achievement.” |
