West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 20 July 2007
Recycling message clearer
• YOU kindly published my letter in your July 12 edition, but perhaps due to a lack of space you pared down my letter to such an extent it completely lost the point I was trying to make, which was that we are all responsible for recycling, but the government, alongside local councils and producers, could do a lot more to educate the public on what can be recycled. Print a notice on the packaging ie “this can be recycled as cardboard, plastic or other”. If you can put that on cigarette packets, why not everything else?
Yes it would cost a few pennies more on everyone’s grocery bill – we are not expecting the producers to bear the cost alone. E FRY
