Archers’ sights on 2012 games
BRITISH arrowmen scooped gold in the first international archery competition at Lord’s on Monday.
They fended off a spirited challenge from the finest archers from China and India in the three-team tournoi.
But the Asian army got their own back by taking first and second prizes in the women’s tournament.
Alison Williamson, who won bronze in the 2004 Athens Olympics, said: “It was a real privilege to compete in the first-ever international archery tournament. “It was a great chance for everyone to gain some invaluable experience at the ground which will host the Olympic archery contest in 2012.” |
