Post office polemicists ignore the laws of economics
• POLAND Street Post Office, like every post office in the land collectively, loses hundreds of millions of pounds every year. What happens when a shop, company or service loses such money in every other sector? It closes or reforms. Yet your litany of pro-Poland Street Post Office thickheads appear economically illiterate to this basic fact of life. Why should we tax payers prop up this loss-making inefficient service (£1.7 billion) to save them walking 30 yards up the road to WH Smith on Oxford Street?
The last contribution sounded like the last gasp of an old 1970’s Trotskyist. Hey guys, the world has moved on. This is 2007 not 1897. Walk up the road. It’ll do you good, lower your obesity, make you healthy and add years to your life as well as lowering your tax bill. MALCOLM RASALA
