West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 14 September 2007
A serious loss of power
• I WISH to draw attention to the imminent withdrawal of Enduring Powers of Attorney from the end of September.
Many readers will know of the significant benefits of signing an EPA, which allows them appoint a person of their own choice as their attorney(s) to manage their property and finances.
From October 1 it will no longer be possible to sign an EPA. Instead, you will be obliged to complete a 25-page form in order to complete a Lasting Power of Attorney, at a significantly increased cost. We are urging clients to sign an EPA before that date. Such EPAs remain valid after the end of the month if they are signed before October 1. ANN STANYER
