Secretary of state sets out plan to battle obesity
SECRETARY of state Alan Johnson put fitness at the top of the health agenda on Monday following a visit to Great Ormond Street hospita.
Mr Johnson said he wanted to tackle child obesity. He met families and children on the cardiac intensive care and oncology unit and was briefed on the children’s hospital’s research role.
He praised the Great Ormond Street Trust for “accumulating hard and specific evidence that healthy children become healthier adults, which is significant given the issues of obesity and inactivity”.
Great Ormond Street’s chief executive Dr Jane Collins said: “We were delighted to give the secretary of state a chance to see the care we offer for some of the country’s sickest children.” |
