Classic cars draw the crowds to Covent Garden
HUNDREDS of classic car enthusiasts descended on the Piazza in Covent Garden on Sunday for the Lancia centenary.
The event, organised by the Lancia Motor Club, brought a wide array of vintage cars, and their owners, from all over the country to mark the occasion.
Puccini arias were sung from the back of a car similar to that owned by the opera composer in the 1920s.
Ayoul Grouvel, the Europe manager of Lancia Turin, minister Giovanni Brauzzi of the Italian embassy and Paul Baker, former president of the Lancia Motor Club, attended the event, as did Mayor Carolyn Keen, (pictured).
Four years ago, an event was held to mark the 40th anniversary of the Flavia model and the Piazza saw thousands of visitors, including families with children, flock to see the cars. |
