Green light for college revamp
CITY of Westminster College has got the go-ahead for an state-of-the-art redevelopment in Paddington.
The £85 million campus, due to open in September 2010, is the centrepiece of a £107m four-year upgrade.
The Learning & Skills Council has agreed to back the College with a grant of £87million - the largest sum ever approved for a rebuild project in the further education sector.
The College is to move from its Paddington Green site at Christmas to a temporary site in Paddington Basin, North Wharf Road. Work begins at Paddington Green in early 2008.
College Principal, Robin Shreeve said “We are very excited about this innovative scheme which we expect, when it opens in September 2010, to be a local, regional and national centre of excellence and a superb place to work, study or visit.” |
