West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 October 2007

Restaurant raid backing

• I FAIL to agree with the protests over the recent immigration/police raid on China Town (Slow day in Chinatown, October 19). It was clear to the officers that there were illegal workers in the restaurants so they had to act, and acting with force does seem to be required these days as the police are in fear of their own lives.
The claim that tourists were scared may have been the case for a small number of people, but Londoners deserve the right to know what is going on in their city and the managers of the restaurant may now want to pay more attention to the future workers they take on board.
