Families march to remember custody deaths
THE family of a 25-year-old who died in a police station in Ladbroke Grove marched through Trafalgar Square on Saturday.
Jason Oscar McPherson, from East Acton, died on January 18 in Notting Hill police station after being arrested.
Officers, who after stopping Mr McPherson in St Ann’s Raod, Ladbroke Grove, called for medical attention – but the reasons for this are not yet known. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where he died.
Mr McPherson’s family and friends said they were too distraught to speak about the incident.
From Hull to Hackney, families affected by custody deaths gathered in Trafalgar Square for the ninth annual protest organised by the United Families and Friends Campaign and the charity Inquest.
The crowd of more than 200 marched in silence to Downing Street.
