Pop guru shows young dancers some moves
BUDDING young dancers got a one-off lesson from a choreographer-to-the-stars at Pineapple Dance Studios on Tuesday.
Top choreographer Paulette Minott, who has worked with Craig David, the uber-cool Sugababes and current pop princess Rihanna, taught the group a dance routine and gave a seminar about the dance industry.
Ms Minott said: “Today has been about bringing kids of different shades and backgrounds together and exposing them to choice. “Some will have realised that this is not for them, and that’s great too, because it is still giving them that choice, and that’s so important.”
Ms Minott, who studied dance and drama at Westminster Kingsway College in Vernon Square said: “I’ve said it before, it’s good to make sure that you have your academics and your GCSEs as something to fall back on. “But dance can open up so many doors; there are so many things you can do, like anatomy of dance, or practise as a sports therapist.”
The event was part of an initiative put together by high street bank Alliance and Leicester, to give people aged 16-21 an opportunity to gain insight into different vocations. |
