Dancers to follow in Sammy Jnr’s footsteps
A THOUSAND older residents are being invited to join a grand tea dance at a prestigious Park Lane hotel next month.
The free high-profile event is being held on December 9 at the Grosvenor House hotel’s Great Room.
It is a floor that has been trodden by famous names including Sammy Davis Jnr, Ella Fitzgerald, Orson Welles and General Dwight Eisenhower.
Visitors will be treated to a live military band, tea, sandwiches, cakes, and there will be a short speech by Sir Simon Milton, leader of Westminster Council.
The dance is being organised by Westminster’s Senior Citizen’s Champion, Councillor Christabel Flight, as the first in a series of events in line with the council’s
10-point promise to deliver tailormade services for older residents.
Cllr Flight said: “This will be a delightful event, completely free, and something people can really look forward to.” |
