Confusion reigns over Pimlico
• ONCE again confusion is displayed by a Westminster Councillor. This time it is Nick Yarker (Trigger happy? Inspectors weren’t called in by us, November 30).
Pimlico’s contentious proposed new school building is being done through the Building Schools for the Future programme. In Pimlico’s case, this is due to take place anyway, and is nothing to do with the school’s proposed change of status to academy.
It’s true that the new building and the academy proposal will transform the school, but sadly not in a positive way.
Pimlico’s services will be either degraded, for example the Special Music Course, and in some cases, like the swimming pool, will disappear. The new public library, is to be shared with Pimlico School.
As for the school providing a valuable resource for the community as a whole, the current building has a long history of doing just that. This is nothing new. NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
