Balloons released by Mille Bailey and Ethan Paice reached France |
Balloon racers Basque in the glory of a fine flight
BALLOONS released by pupils at Soho Parish School have been found as far away as the Pyrenees. The release was part of the celebrations when the toilet art installation opened in St Anne’s Gardens in September.
The children had attached messages on the balloons with a notice to post them back to the school if they were found.
Ten of the 200 released have returned and yesterday (Thursday) a special ceremony was called by teachers to award prizes for the furthest travelled. Rosie Kidd, whose balloon travelled 946 kilometres to the Basque border town of Larrau in the Pyrenees, won first prize which was a PSP games console.
• Twentieth Century Fox has teamed up with the Soho Green project to present an event which will help benefit Soho Parish School, the Soho Family Centre and the Soho Community Centre Trust, from 3.45pm on Wednesday at the school. |
