Norwegian wood comes to trafalgar square
A TOWERING Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square has travelled from Norway as part of a Westminster tradition stretching back to the Second World War. The Norwegian Christmas Tree is a token of thanks for British support during years of occupation.
The 100-year-old tree was axed after Lord Mayor councillor Carolyn Keen hand-picked it during a trip to Oslo last month.
Cllr Keen was joined at the ceremony by the Norwegian Ambassador Bjarne Lindstrom and the The Prime Minister of Norway Jens Stoltenberg who turned on the lights.
