New pipes cause deep problem

• SINCE Thames Water replaced the Victorian water pipes in Greek Street we are having a serious problem in the basement of my premises, Jazz After Dark.
As a result, my basement and cellar has been flooded constantly for the past month. The leak started as soon as they connected the new water supply, flooding the cellar and destroying our electrical supply, causing a risk to a member of staff who was nearly electrocuted and causing a serious fire hazard.
When I complained to Thames Water they sent a technician, and guess what he said? “I will send somebody during the daytime to do something about it.” What a waste of time and money sending this so-called technician. Will it make a difference whether they come daytime or evening time? It is dark in the basement and with the electricity supply cut off we have to get by with a torch.
One week later another “technician” came and informed me that the leak is caused because the old mains are still live and may be decommisioned in the near future. In the meantime, my leak continues.
If any West End Extra readers are suffering the same misfortune as me, please let’s get together to take action against Thames Water as they are not above the law.
