Gregg Stone’s version of Robert Doisneau’s Kiss by the Hotel de Ville, part of the exhibition |
You must remember this...kissing in Carnaby
A KISS is just a kiss – and a great subject for a photograph – in an exhibition being launched at Carnaby Gallery just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Fashion photographer Gregg Stone has taken inspiration from Robert Doisneau’s famous Kiss by the Hotel de Ville, taken in 1950 in Paris, for his exhibition.
He hopes to obtain a selection of pictures, from the more traditional smooch to avant-garde images such as a 20-person mass kiss.
The project is open to all, he said: “It’s an inclusive idea. Bikers, goths, drag queens – everyone kisses and everyone says something with a kiss... Whoever they are, whatever their age, as long as they are ready to pucker up.”
Organisers have encouraged those taking part to come along with their own ideas for pictures.
The photography sessions will take place from 12-4pm for three consecutive Saturdays, beginning next week. There will an extra special romantic class on Valentine’s Day.
• The Carnaby Kiss exhibition runs from February 14 to March 16. Entry is free. |
